Art
Students in majors such as English, Communications, Biology, Education, and others find that art courses add to their skill set, expand their opportunities, and add enjoyment to their schedule while stretching themselves creatively. Students will acquire skills in traditional fine art techniques like drawing, painting, clay, photography, or printmaking. The minor is comprised of four required foundation courses and three upper-level electives.

- ART 100: Drawing I (3 credits)
- ART 122: Ancient to Medieval Art History (3 credits)
- OR ART 123: Renaissance to 20th Century Art History (3 credits)
- ART 125: 2-Dimensional Design (3 credits)
- ART 126: 3-Dimensional Design (3 credits)
- ART 128: Basic Computer Design (3 credits)
- Two (2) Approved Art Electives (6 credits)
Learning Outcomes
- Developing perception, skill, and creativity, including demonstrations, practice, and projects in various techniques from gesture to final form renderings.
- Surveying art and architecture from Prehistoric times to the Medieval Ages OR art and architecture from the Renaissance to the 20th century.
- Focusing on the exposure and study of elements and principles of聽design, creative processes, synthesis, and the聽technical aspects of art production, including聽media, tools, and methods.
- Participating in a 3-dimensional design course that emphasizes the elements and principles of design.
- Taking an introduction to basic design concepts, computer literacy, and software competency.
- Experiencing three聽of the basic types of publishing tools used by designers -- Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
