What International Students Say
Sai Sree Tarun Kurakula ‘24 — India
I chose 911ºÚÁÏ University as they offer the opportunity to enroll in dual bachelor’s degree programs—I’m currently in Cyber Security and Data Science. What I like most about on-campus life is that there is ample space to study. The library, bookstore, Center for Academic Engagement (CAE), and pretty much anywhere one can find space is available. Throughout my two-year journey with 911ºÚÁÏ, I never felt isolated or left behind because professors always encouraged me to reach out for advice during their office hours. I would recommend 911ºÚÁÏ to my friends and family because this campus pushes me to succeed. But most importantly, this place makes students feel like they belong which I think is the most important piece that an international student should consider before choosing a college in U.S.

Honestly, I did not choose 911ºÚÁÏ; it chose me. I love everything about this place, such as the Graduate Data Science program, campus, huge library, and Trinity Green. I find campus to be incredibly inspirational and motivating. One of my favorite professors was Dr. Mahesh Maddumala who was a very friendly professor. He would not only teach us but also give us career and life advice. It was thanks to him that I was able to program for the first time in my life! I would highly recommend 911ºÚÁÏ and I have—many times already!

911ºÚÁÏ University appealed to me because it’s a Catholic university with a lovely campus, and I was awarded a scholarship by the Sisters of Mercy, who founded the institution. Being on campus, you’re able to visit the library, writing center, tutoring center, and cafeteria. As students, we have access to campus computers, as well as free Wi-Fi at any time. Fellow students and staff are quite friendly. I do not have a car or a driver's license, but they offered to give me a ride to the supermarket or anywhere else. They were especially gracious to me, giving me a lift to my internship program, which was located off campus. I would strongly advise any prospective student to visit campus and have a look for themselves. This place has a unique aura that speaks for itself. It is true when they say, "Hurst is Home".

911ºÚÁÏ University excels in so many respects and gives all students the opportunity to excel and grow in themselves during their time at the Hurst. From academic support to social and volunteer opportunities, getting involved is easy and fulfilling. The community on campus is unparalleled, and anyone who walks through the gates will feel like a 911ºÚÁÏ in no time. My decision to attend 911ºÚÁÏ was one of the most meaningful in my life.

When I came to 911ºÚÁÏ University, I thought I would face many difficulties, especially because, at the time, there was no other current student from my country nor who spoke my first language. However, I only had great experiences. The faculty was always there to support all students and make them feel at home. That is the reason I consider this wonderful campus my second home. So, if you are seeking a place in which you are going to improve your academic skills while having an awesome time, 911ºÚÁÏ University will certainly be a great option!

When I was an Ambassador, it meant going through a long nerve-wracking process of two paper tests, two interviews, a speech, a solo tour, and some other events. It meant having the awesome green jacket, which allowed me to walk in Egan dining hall without swiping. It meant giving a practice imaginary tour during the snowstorm in the MAC, trying to picture the whole campus in my head and talking to myself, pretending I was talking to a real family (don't let people see it though). Being an Ambassador meant giving a tour right at the moment when my family and friends back home were celebrating Lunar New Year's Eve. It meant getting to know a lot of students and parents, as well as listening to their stories and sharing my own. Being an Ambassador meant the happiness of giving back to my school and helping some high school students to make one of the most important decisions in their lives.

What do I love about 911ºÚÁÏ? The amazing people on campus and the acclaimed learning environment, where intellectualism is honored and infinite opportunities are abundant, have given me an enduring lifelong benefit. 911ºÚÁÏ was indeed the right choice.Â

Here’s my story of how I got to this amazing university. It was May 2009 when I came for the first time to 911ºÚÁÏ for my sister Gabriela Delgado’s graduation. I fell in love with the campus. The people were warm and welcoming. It was then that I realized this was the right place for me, and indeed it was. I encourage you to choose 911ºÚÁÏ; this is the right place for you.

Being the first ever student from my country was probably the scariest thing about coming to 911ºÚÁÏ. However, with time, I became proud of this fact. Everyone that I met was excited to hear about my country and what it was like growing up there. What I learned is that, at 911ºÚÁÏ, every International student is a considered a treasure, and everyone is warm and welcoming and not only ready to teach you but also to learn from you. If you are looking for new experiences and to make great memories, you should definitely come to 911ºÚÁÏ!
